You must use each Page category TWICE in this calendar year. You will select 9 pages per quarter to complete. There will be a total of two class days specifically dedicated to working on the process journal each quarter, but you may choose to work on your process page throughout your class time in art class.
List of PJ Pages to use:
1. Artist Inspiration-centered around historical artist that directly inspires your artwork. Should obviously connect back to the project you are working on. Visual examples of the historical artist's work and your own should be present.
2. Artist Reaction-A reaction infers that it causes you to visually react to another artist. Why is this interesting or worth exploring? How has this reaction influenced your own work? Visual examples of this artist's work and your own should be present.
3. Artistic Movement Inspiration-centered around historical artistic movement that directly inspires your artwork. Should obviously connect back to the project you are working on. Visual examples of the historical movement's work and your own should be present.
4. Art Making Process-Photographic documentation of the art making process, with written examples. This page should show failures, mistakes and triumphs. Why is process important?
5. Cultural Influences on your work-cultural influences could be color schemes, media choices, compositions, patterns, subject matter, etc. You need to have multiple visual examples and verify how they are cultural, how they are influential, and how your piece came about by using them.
6. Reference Images Page for your artistic process-you are taking photographs for reference for artwork, and explaining how each was used. Thumbnails and rough drafts to further draw upon your reference photos is helpful.
7. Reflection on Process (this could be a mental or production based reflection)-ask yourself big questions to frame out your reflection. You should be able to discuss failures and triumphs in this process.
8. Analyze Artist or Artistic Movement-please see this link.
9. Analyze your artist against......(another artist, a movement)-please see the link above for step by step instructions.
10. Experiment/Exploration Page-you should be experimenting with media, compositions, etc and documenting the good, bad and the ugly. This page is to get out of your comfort zone in a way that builds skills for the projects you are completing.
11. Comparing/Contrasting- this could be a compare/contrast of your work against another artist, two artists who are inspiring your current work, two artistic styles that we are learning about, etc. Everything should be pertinent to your interests and the projects you are completing in class.
12. Personal Response to Multiple Projects-a response is different than a reflection. You are reacting personally to your progress, development, understanding or abilities over several projects.
13. Refining/Improving your Skills (this should be done in 2nd and 4th quarter)
14. Life Drawing/Observations relating to your artistic process
15. Compare your art to another artist
16. Contrast your art another artist
17. Mastercopy as process for project-this is you trying to copy another artist's work EXACTLY to try to improve your skills in a particular media. You like da Vinci's drawings? Try to copy them, stroke for stroke. Make you you discuss the process and the benefit afterwards.
